How it works

They have to register before they can trade.

Every new food business must register with its local council at least 28 days before it can trade — that's the rule, so the name is public before the doors open. Most suppliers never look at it.

We check the register every morning

At 5:30am, across every council in your patch, we compare today's register with yesterday's. Whatever is on it today that wasn't there yesterday is genuinely new.

Each new name gets investigated

We search Companies House for the operating company, its incorporation date and its named directors — and where the directors are listed, cross-reference what else they run.

You get the list before anyone knocks

One email a week for your patch. Enough detail for a rep to walk in with the owner's name while the fit-out is still under way.

The numbers

Counted every morning, not estimated.

Measured across the ten councils PatchRadar runs today, not modelled: around 60 new food businesses register each week, and about 39 of them have a published street address on day one — those are the ones you can visit. The rest go on a watchlist until the council publishes more. Your patch is measured the same way from the day it's switched on.

What you get

Everything a rep needs to walk in prepared.

Every visit-ready lead carries the first five. The company and director details depend on what Companies House holds — most new leads match to a company, and a minority carry a director cross-reference. We show what we have and never guess.

Why the digest has two parts

We tell you what we know — and what we're still watching.

Councils don't publish every detail on day one. Roughly a third of new registrations appear without a street address at first. Rather than guess, or quietly leave them out, the digest is split in two.
